30 August – 1 September
ALEX AND JULIA CAPRARA
TOUCHING ST IVES
|After their very successful workshop last
year we are very pleased to welcome these two talented artists and teachers
to St Ives again this year.
Old walls, tiled roofs, sand, rock, sea, spray, sunlight and shadow, all evoke the special magic we know as St Ives. This unique workshop encourages you to find ways for exploring and recording the essence and atmosphere of this ancient site.
‘ Touching St Ives’ means literally to get in touch with your senses and creative expression inspired by this environment. This journey of discovery will focus on the many different textural facets that give the town and landscape its own unique character. Your journey of discovery will involve you in exploring ways for recording views and glimpses of buildings, streets, contrasting surfaces and colours.
The course is about innovation, creativity and personal expression and you will be encouraged to develop a personal response to the language of texture and colour that is all around you.
You will be able to experiment with a range of mixed media methods, innovative textile techniques as well as exploring contemporary approaches to stitch.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience and is designed to enable you to build a personal collection of inspirational starting points that will enrich a more resolved textile art work.
